Boy, when I blow my diet, I go all out. Lunch today was
bacon clam chowder
cranberry walnut chicken salad on marbled rye
orange flower muffin
Cause yeah, there's nothing like having someone compliment you on weight loss to make you binge on uber-fattening food.
It was totally worth it.

I have a TON of stuff to do at home right now. A ton. At work? Nothing. You see, at work right now, everyone is trying to cover themselves because someone made a really dumb decision and decided that it would be a GREAT idea to take one of the systems down on Saturday...all day. So, I'm watching the finger pointing and not much else. I have very little, if anything, to do with that system so I'm bored stiff. I did bring some sewing which I could work on but I really just feel like I should be doing *something*.
So, I'm reading news articles....online....I'll post any funny ones, I promise.

Right now I feel fattest in the world. A friend of mine wrote a post in her blog about the ongoing controversy (at least in Sweden) about Gwyneth Paltrow starving herself to loose 20 kilos after her pregnancy. I use the word starving here since she has said in interviews that she cried herself to sleep from hunger.
Anyway, my friend stated that it wasn't weird to want to loose 20 kilos of overweight - of course she would want to, implying that Gwyneth was really fat before she lost them But it wasn't 20 kilos of overweight, it was 20 kilos more than her normal, very low weight. I assume that Gwyneth, who's a little taller than me weighs 50-55 kilos. That means that 20 kilos more would mean that a) she's still in the healthy range of the BMI scale and b) she weighs less than I do; which in turns leads to obvious the conclusion that I am really, really too fat.
So forget about loosing 5 kilos and enter the "normal BMI range", I really need to loose twenty kilos, otherwise I'm fat.
This is not improving my mood, which wasn't to good to begin with, with menstrual cramps.

I made four pairs of linen underwear last night and another pair of false sleeves for my pink dress. I then spent most of the night lying in bed not sleeping. Hubbyfink was surprised to find me not only up but also active when he got out of the shower this morning. I started piling up baskets of Pennsic gear in the dining room and then decided to go ahead and make my Viking apron dress.
I look freaking adorable in Norse clothes. Plus, an entire garment which can go from length of fabric to wearable dress in forty-five minutes? Sign me the heck up!
I'm going to coast today and not worry with the Sekanjabin; it can be made Monday night. Work stuffs are quiet this morning (but hold the potential for a frantic afternoon). May as well finish up those veils and call my pre-Pennsic sewing done.

oh, there was going to be photos, but I can't get them to upload. Suffice it to say we went to Liseberg with the girls yesterday, and we rode so many rides that we probably stayed an hour too long. Still, much fun was had by all. Except my hip joint (see earlier post). But that's what painkillers are for!
Today,
sir_asbjornand the kids went fishing with granddad again, in search of those elusive mackrel. I took our car and went off on a museum hunt. Oh, but it was fun! Ale viking farm, Lödöse museum (gads, they certainly make up for the free entry by having a lethal shop!) and then rounded off with a climb around Bohus fort. In 30-degree temperatures that was quite a feat, I tell you.
Driving went well, despite another idiot trying to murder me by overtaking on a blind corner. We very very nearly died coming back from Liseberg, and that we didn't, alternatively five cars went nose-to-tail as we all panic-braked on account of that particular idiot, that's a major miracle. Grrr!

I have been very lax about posting lately. Sometimes RL just gets in the way.
Last night, I got the cakes baked and shaped, and got the crumb coat put on. We've got a strawberry pirate ship with fudge frosting and a white round layer-cake island. I expect I'll do the decorating Sat. night after Grettir's folks leave. (The party is on Sunday, but they can only come down Saturday.) The paper mache pirate's chest needs some drying time in the sun today--luckily Luke and I will be at my mom's--and then a coat of spray paint. Also need to make a "treasure map" and hide it somewhere in the back yard. I'm planning on making pirate hats out of newspaper, but that will take about 5 minutes. Sure hope the kids have fun!
I stepped on the scale for the first time in about 4 weeks--boy, I need to get my stress-eating under control. I've gained about 5 lbs, and I can feel it in my arms and other places. Intense stress makes me stop eating, and low-level continual stress makes me eat lots. BUT, I will not go back there. No, I like being able to see my collarbones. In good news, I've been taking a few short exploratory runs in the past 2 weeks, with good success so far. I've been wearing my very old beat-up sneakers, but they have the roomiest toe box, which I think is the most crucial factor for my feet. I had a very good run this morning; it's just so much more psychologically satisfying than gym workouts. It was a beautiful morning, with delicate pink little clouds covering the sky and nice cool air. There's something special about propelling your body through space, as opposed the just moving your legs around in circles. Here's hoping my feet continue to hold up.
Got reminders out to autocrats for October events last night--I needed to get that done before everybody left for War. My calendar deputy is at War both weeks, so I'll be handling everything for the duration. Wheeee.
I might have time to paint this evening; we'll see.
Safe travels to everybody!

NPR had a story about the Chinese government organizing 300,000 official cheerers, teaching them generic, unison cheers, all to the glory of the revolution (and to drown out people yelling "Trinidad and Tobago, YOU SUCK!"1). I hope they televise the soccer riots. "Head butt for the glorious revolution! Now, upchuck for the glorious revolution! Pass out for the glorious revolution!"
1 They do. Fucking posers. They're totally the Yankees of the 200m butterfly.

Typing in "Pennsic" for the local weather on accuweather.com will not work. Ever.
Also, on the back of the dog food bag, it says "muscle development" not "musical development".
That is all...for now.
Just in case anyone is wondering...

Yay! I got my period today!
How can this be good news? (Apart from the obvious: that I'm not pregnant, although that wouldn't be bad news, just worrying because of my medication. But I digress, that's not it.)
Because it means that it will be over when Visby medieval week starts!

This evening, I pressed and cut the goldenrod supertunic and started constructing the 6 supertunics. Of course, with this design, it almost takes longer to thread the serger than it does to run the seams. Got the goldenrod and all three reds (red, tawny port and cardinal) and seamed and hem-serged. All that's left on those four is the binding of the neck and armhole edges. Tomorrow I will seam the green and the ginger and bind them all. That way I can devote the weekend to the undertunics and the veils.
I am pleased with the progress.
Fabric prep and cutting: 1 hr.
Sewing time: 3 hrs.

A. They are eating only the things that 'scrub' the CO2 out of the air,
thus leaving less foliage to protect and clairfy the atmosphere
B. Methane is a HUGE factor in greenhouse gases . . . the stuff emitted by
ruminants like cattle, bison, antelope, deer . . . and leaving them intct to
chew and poot polution into the air seems an additional strain on the
environment.
I am an Earth-loving, tree huggin carnivore who leaves the plants alive to
do their thing and chooses the methane passing meat sources.
from an e-list I'm on.

On the way home today, I saw this somewhat tanned, quite nicely muscular man jogging...with a rubber cat mask that covered his entire head.
Getting ready for the ride to Pennsic tomorrow. Then we return on Sunday, rinse, repeat. We make it back the following Saturday.
My banded stola is coming around very nicely. It feels good to have something that is flattering, comfortable, and fits. I have also finished two white tunicas out of 3.5 oz linen, so that will be quite cool. My only concern is that the linen I ordered will arrive on time for my other two stolas and pallas.
Here's to hope.
At any rate, Project Runway was entertaining last night, although I have to say that last season's bunch was a lot more endearing and probably more talented. Anywhoo, although I did like Suede's winning dress, I still think that Kenley was robbed. On the other hand, I can certainly understand why he won. His dress involved a lot more work than Kenley's, but I still like the other one better.
Here are both dresses:

Suede's Dress:
The best quote of the night (By Leanne): "Leanne likes Suede, but Suede needs to stop talking about himself in the third person."
For real.

to my dilemma:
Go to more events.
It seems I won't be able to make it to the Civil War this year, it's on a weekend when Rickard works, and that really is a pity because last year was one of the best events I've been to. But we have our own event, Lady Ragnhild's Collegium, on the 26-28th of September and I suspect/hope that the shire of Gotvik will have their Sigrid's Feast around that time too. Then there's St.Martin's in November, but it's unlikely that I can go and after that I don't know.
